WILLMAR —The Fergus Falls boys swimming and diving team used Tuesday’s meet versus Central Lakes Conference opponent Willmar as a way to get different swimmers a chance to compete in events they were not used to.
The move didn’t affect the Otters as it remained unbeaten in dual action defeating the Cardinals 95-85.
Continuing with their strong diving performances the duo of Reid Magnusson and Mikey Pistulka went one and two off the board with Magnusson taking first (224.85) and Pistulka was the runner-up (182.8).
In individual swimming action, Fergus claimed seven first place finishes. Joe Kitzman recorded win in the 200 IM (2:10.99) and the 500 freestyle (5:27.66), while teammate Cal Mouritsen was also a dual winner with top spots in the 100 butterfly (55.63) and 100 breaststroke (1:02.83).
Other first place finishers for the Otters include Luke Raitz (200 freestyle, 2:03.22), Daniel Kowalski (100 freestyle, 53.72), Conner Hatfield (1:00.71).
Fergus’ 200 Medley Realy team of Hatfield, Cal Mouritsen, Kitzman and Kowalski and 400 freestyle realy team of Kitzman, Dalton Mouritsen, Raitz and Cal Mouritsen each took first in the meet.
The Otters will get a true test at home Thursday as it hosts the undefeated Brainerd Warriors in a 4:15 p.m. showdown.
