Doris Schallock, 85, of Henning, died peacefully Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014, surround by her loving family at her home in Henning.
Doris Lorraine Johnson was born on Aug. 6, 1928, to Ole C. and Lena (Larson) Johnson at their home in FoldenTownship in rural Vining. Doris attended country school at District 249 in rural Vining.
She was employed with several families as a housekeeper and also assisted at home.
On Sept. 21, 1947, Doris married Gaylerd Schallock at the United Lutheran Parsonage in Henning.
Their marriage was blessed with four children.
Doris and Gaylerd made their home in Folden Township and later purchased a farm in Henning Township.
Gaylerd passed away on Jan. 8, 2001.
Doris loved gardening, making wreaths, working with crafts, sewing, canning and making jelly.
She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Gaylerd; a sister, LuAnn Hollatz; two brothers, Lloyd Johnson and Clayton Johnson; a sister-in-law, Burdeen Johnson; and a brother-in-law Eldor Hollatz.
Doris is survived by her three daughters, JoAnn Henry of St. Paul; Shirley Vye of Henning and Gail (Wm.) Helmbrecht of Henning; a son, David (Lori) Schallock of Howard Lake; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Orlin Johnson of Henning; a sister-in-law, Mabel Schallock of Vining; nieces, nephews; and many friends.
Visitation: Monday from 3 to 6 p.m., with a prayer service at 6 p.m., at the funeral home
Clergy: Darrell Vetter.
Burial: Private family burial will be in Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Cemetery, Henning, with the Rev. Roger Johnson officiating.
