Second half drought leads to Ashby loss

Published 8:15am Friday, January 24, 2014

BROWERVILLE — The Ashby boys basketball team was outscored 23-19 in the second half against the Browerville Tigers on Thursday night. That erased a 23-19 halftime lead for the Arrows, as it went on to lose 51-37.

“Our overall defensive effort was better tonight, but we were out of sync on offense the whole night,” Ashby head coach Jeremy Knick said. “We did a really nice job of contesting shots on defense the first half.”

Morgan win led the Arrows with nine points and ten rebounds, just missing the double-double.

After a six-game winning streak, the Arrows have lost four of their last five games. With the loss, Ashby falls below .500 on the season at 7-8.

The Arrows look to get back into the win column as they welcome Bertha-Hewitt for a 7:30 p.m. tipoff on Friday in Ashby.
