The wait is finally over.

Fergus Falls parents Connor and Dani West welcomed a baby boy, Gabriel Lyle, marking the city’s first baby born in 2014.

Arriving at 1:52 p.m., baby Gabriel was delivered at Lake Region Hospital by Dr. Michael Norgard and weighed in at 7 lbs. 15 oz. and was 21.5 inches long. Dani, who was in labor for nearly eight hours, said that the berth went well and was comparable to her first.

“What are the chances of having the New Year’s baby,” Dani said. “It’s really special.”

Initially, the couple was apprehensive on their child having the New Year’s baby title, but have said that it really has been fun.

Father, Conner, was elated and thanked visitors for stopping by. “A lot of people have been stopping by, so we have been taking it all in.”
