ASHBY — The visiting Verndale Pirates were able to hold off a second half charge from the Ashby Arrows to claim a 67-64 victory Thursday.

“We knew going into this game that Verndale had some good talent and it was going to be a close game,” Arrows’ coach Jeremy Knick said. “We fought hard that second half to give ourselves a chance to win. We just came up a little short.”

Blake Ohren led the Arrows with 18 points, while teammates Evan Anderson (16) and Zach Barry (10) were also in double figures.

The Arrows will look to get back on track as it travels to take on Little Eight Conference opponent Brandon-Evansville at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
