ST. CLOUD — A week ago, the Fergus Falls boys hockey team was celebrating 1-0 win over the St. Cloud Apollo Eagles.
On Tuesday night, the Eagles would get its revenge as it claimed a 3-0 shutout of the Otters and advances to the semifinals in the Section 6A playoffs.
The game saw Apollo tally 12 shots on goal, but Fergus netminder Andrew MacFarlane turned away each shot to keep the game scoreless after one period.
The Eagles would light the lamp in the second period as Skyler Rieland flipped in a power play goal off a Dallas Haugen pass. Haugen would tally his own power play goal at the 15:34 mark off passes from Logan Traut and Brandon Baker to give Apollo a 2-0 lead at the end of the second.
The Eagles would put the game out of reach for the Otters in the third as Jason Omann scored an unassisted goal early in the period to seal the game.
Fergus Falls was only able to notch 13 shots on goal, while St. Cloud Apollo kept the Otter defense busy as it peppered the net with 39 shots.
The Otters end its season with a 10-15-1 record.
