Beverly Jane Booen, 81, of Hewitt and Deer Creek, died Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014, in Altoona, Iowa, from a broken heart.
Beverly was born to Leo and Wilma Walker on Sept. 19, 1932, in Hewitt. She and Kenneth Duane Booen were married April 19, 1952, in Hewitt.
Beverly worked as a cook at Shady Lane Nursing Home, now Fair Oaks Lodge, in Wadena, retiring in 1994.
Her hobbies were quilting, sewing, cooking and traveling
Beverly is survived by her daughters Kathryn Buker, Albert Lea, Deanna (Robert) Mullenbach, Austin, Bonnie (Roger) Stuart, Altoona, Iowa, Connie (Clay) Willey of Pleasant Hill, Iowa, Susan (Robert) Hopkins, Altoona, Iowa; sons, Michael (April) Booen of Underwood and Gary (Karen) Booen of St Cloud; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Larry (Janis) Walker; sisters, Josephine (Tom) Fern and Sandra (Ray) South; brothers-in-law, Donald Booen and Lyle Booen; and sisters-in-law Shirley Zuehlke, Avis Robbin, Gloria Martin, Nora Booen, Dorothy Hofferbert and Lois Lynch.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life and husband of 61 years, Kenneth on Sept. 4, 2013; her parents, Leo and Wilma Walker; in-laws James and Mabel Booen; sisters, Phyllis Branstner and Glenice Buschke; brothers-in-law, Howard Branstner and Wilmar Buschke, Lloyd Booen, Richard Booen and Robert Booen; a sister-in-law, Norma Zuelhke; a son-in-law, Dennis Buker; a granddaughter, Farrah Buker; and a great-grandson, Jonathan Hoffmann.
Visitation: Saturday from noon until the time of the service at the Community Center
