Battlers cruise, end Rockets season

BATTLE LAKE —The Battle Lake boys continued down the road back to the Class A state tournament Thursday as it defeated the visiting Underwood Rockets 78-23.

Tyler Ukkelberg led the Battlers with 26 points, while teammates Petric VanErp (15) and Nick Trosdahl (10) were also in double figures.

Spencer Johnson was the lone Underwood player in double digits with 10 points in the game.

“This was a great year, and I am truly going to miss all the seniors on this team: Adam Creek, Ben Field, Aaron Thompson, Spencer Johnson, Max Kollar, Andy Wold, Kale Bakken, and Kyle Chelemedos,” Rockets coach Jesse Arbuckle said. “They are a great group of guys.”

The Rockets finish its season with a 10-15 record.

The Battlers will move on to a quarterfinal matchup against Ortonville at 1 p.m. at the University of Minnesota – Morris Saturday.
