Tigers cool down Comets, advance in section playoffs

ROTHSAY — After leaving the court with a first half lead, the Hillcrest girls basketball team was prepared to move on in the Section 6A playoffs, but a second half surge put the hosting Rothsay Tigers back on top and sent the Comets home with a 52-47 season ending loss.

Rothsay was led by Ashely Maack with 18 points. Teammates Lexy Dunbar (14) and Chelsie Lankow (12) were also in double figures in the win.

Kelsey Nersten led the Comets with 16 points, while teammate Laura Tungseth added 13 of her own.

The Comets finish its season 4-17.

The Tigers advance to take on Ada-Borup, the sub-section’s top seed, in a 7 p.m. Thursday tilt.
