Comets get stung by Hornets in finale

HENNING – The Hillcrest girls basketball team ran into tough competition Friday as the hosting Henning Hornets were able to claim a 60-36 regular season finale.

Kelsey Nersten was the lone Comet player in double digits with 10 points. Hennings’ Kaitlin Richter (13) and Paige Wallevand (10) were in double figures for the Hornets.

The Comets will open the Section 6A tournament at home Monday as it takes on Rothsay in a 7 p.m. tilt.
