New clinic positions LRH care for future

From a patient perspective, the proposed new clinic for Lake Region Healthcare, which would take advantage of new technology and spaces designed for modern health care services, certainly is a good thing.

For Fergus Falls, it’s an even better thing.

With 950 employees, LRH is by far the largest employer in Fergus Falls. Its status as an independent hospital and clinic has given LRH the opportunity to provide services such as cancer treatments and radiology, services residents likely would have to travel to Fargo or farther to receive.

Such services also attract patients from a large service territory,

A new $30 million facility will position LRH for the long-term future, ensuring a stable source of high-paying jobs for Fergus Falls, and providing valuable health care services for an aging community.

The LRH Board of Directors should be recognized for having the vision to make such a necessary move, and keep the Fergus Falls hospital and clinic independent.
