Otter girls basketball team displays its class and character [UPDATED]Published 10:00am Friday, March 14, 2014 Updated 12:02pm Friday, March 14, 2014
Call me late to the dance, but since our granddaughters have taken an interest in the FFHS girls basketball team this past year, I’ve become a huge admirer. Working some “creative” hours, I’m not able to attend games as often as I’d like, but it is absolutely fascinating to watch the precision, the teamwork, the fire, and most of all, the CLASS that these young ladies display during the games.
There is no poor, or bad behavior displayed by either the starters or the bench players.
No one pops off to coaches, teammates, opponents, or even the obviously visually disadvantaged game officials. There are neither “happy dances” nor temper tantrums displayed on the floor. All act as one team, with one purpose, and they do it with class.
This isn’t intended to be a criticism of The Journal’s reporting — sports by nature, tends to focus on performance almost exclusively. Unfortunately in this case, what’s lost is the class and character displayed by this team from the coaches, players and support crew.
With greatest respect and admiration.
