Becker County Sheriff pleads not guilty [UPDATED]

Published 9:22am Wednesday, April 9, 2014 Updated 11:22am Wednesday, April 9, 2014

Tim Gordon, former Becker County Sheriff, pleaded not guilty to felony charges of theft by swindle and presenting a false claim, and a misdemeanor of misconduct Monday, according to reports in the Fargo Forum.

Gordon, 58, resigned from his position in October 2012.

Charges came after a year-long investigation by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension into a boat purchased with grant money from the state Department of Natural Resources.

Gordon is accused of passing off his old boat as an expensive new one, with the department buying it at an inflated price.

His next court appearance is May 28.
