Comets hold on to win over TrojansPublished 10:47am Wednesday, May 7, 2014
The Hillcrest Comets saw a Reggie Undseth hit skip underneath the glove of a Barnesville defender in the final frame of Tuesday’s game.
Undseth’s shot saw Sean McGuire cross the plate and were able to get its second win in three games as it defeated the Trojans 7-6.
“Both teams had a little trouble picking up some ground balls, which is why we stress just hitting it hard someplace and good things will result,” Comets’ coach Steve Undseth said. “That’s what happened tonight; we made just enough plays to pull out a victory.”
In the first inning, the Trojans got on the board first, but the Comets would respond with five runs in the bottom half.
Barnesville would claw back with a pair of two-run innings in the third and fourth.
Hillcrest looked to get back in the driver seat with a Caleb Mathison RBI in the sixth, but Barnesville would be able to tie it in the top of the seventh, setting up the Comets heroics in the bottom of the inning.
Connor Aasness, Chris Tungseth, and Reggie Undseth each recorded two hits in the victory.
The Comets will be back in action Friday as it hosts the Ashby Arrows at 5 p.m.
