Arrows fall in final inning

Published 10:49am Friday, May 16, 2014

ASHBY — The Ashby Arrow baseball team carried a 5-4 lead into the final inning Thursday against Wheaton, but the Warriors batted in eight runs in the top of the seven to grab the victory.

Morgan Wing allowed six runs from the mound, but only two were earned. He also led the Arrows at the plate, going 2-2 with a sac bunt and sac fly.

“Morgan threw a great game for us and he deserved better than the outcome,” head coach Chad Akerson said. “We are still making the routine plays look extremely difficult, but I will blame this loss on myself. I should of stuck with Morgan a little longer, but after giving up back to back singles in the seventh I thought he was getting tired and his arm a little sore. He deserved to finish the game and I maybe pulled the trigger a little early.”

The Arrows to their home diamond once again on Friday against Parkers Prairie.
