Ashby skid hits five as Trojans take 9-3 win

Published 10:40am Friday, May 2, 2014

ORTONVILLE – The Ashby Arrow baseball team is still looking to get out of its funk as it dropped its fifth straight to Ortonville 9-3 Thursday.

“Their pitcher had our number tonight,” Arrows’ coach Chad Akerson said. “He did a great job at throwing the ball over the plate, and kept us off balance in the process. His fastball wasn’t overpowering but had a nice curveball that gave us a lot of trouble.”

Ashby collected only three hits, but scored three runs in the game. Blake Ohren led the Arrow hitters with a single and two RBI.

Ohren also took the loss for Ashby going 5 ⅔ innings, striking out five and allowing five earned runs.

The Arrows will look to break back into the win column Friday as it travels to take on Wheaton/Herman-Norcross in a 5 p.m. matchup.
