Otter baseball swept in St. Cloud

ST. CLOUD — In back-to-back games against St. Cloud Apollo and St. Cloud Tech, the Fergus Falls Otters saw its trip east to be deflating as it dropped two games 10-1 and 4-0.

In its first game against the Apollo Eagles, the Otters saw two big innings hand them a loss as the Eagles won 10-1.

The Otters got its lone run in the top of the first. The Eagles would use the bottom half to score four runs and add an additional five in the fifth to seal the victory.

Simon Kasper, Jake Lee and Josiah Rostad each collected a hit in the game.

Zach Thunselle got the start for Fergus, going 4 1/3 innings before being relieved by Brady Bergerud.

In the second game, the Otters bats went silent as Tigers’ pitcher Austin Klaverkamp struck out 12 hitters on the way to a 4-0 shutout.

Tech would score its two runs in both the first and second innings.

While Klaverkamp kept the Otters from finding gaps in the field, Fergus pitcher Noah Strom threw six solid innings, allowing six hits and striking out seven.

Drew Pearson, Dane Ringquist and Strom each collected a hit in the game.
