OTC Legion splits versus DGFPublished 10:43am Wednesday, June 18, 2014
BATTLE LAKE — The Otter Tail Central Legion baseball team was able to overcome a first game loss against visiting Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton to record a split in Tuesday’s action.
In game one, a strong pitching performance by Isaiah Greene put D-G-F over OTC 9-2.
Greene struck out 14 hitters in six innings, while teammates piled in seven runs in the first four innings. OTC would responds with two runs in the fifth as Nick Trosdahl ripped a two-run single into center.
That would be the last time OTC saw runners cross the plate as the visitor added single runs in the fifth and sixth to seal the victory.
In the second game, OTC’s Trosdahl delivered a great pitching performance of his own as the OTC Legion won 3-1.
OTC would get on the board early as it scored two runs in the top of the first off a Zack Torgerson RBI single and a wild pitch. OTC would add an additional run in the fourth off a Tyler Aune single.
D-G-F would score its lone run in the bottom of the sixth on a two-out double by Greene.
“Nick had the best game Ive ever seen out of him,” OTC coach Ryan Hendrickson said. “After the first inn I knew he was going to do well, I actually thought he was going to gas because of how hard he was throwing. He had a different look about him tonight, He really wanted this win and earned it vs a very good hitting club.”
Trosdahl went the distance fanning 11 hitters, allowing four hits and one earned run. He was also strong from the plate collecting three hits, two stolen bases and two RBI in the win.
