What’s Happening: World of Outlaws returns to I-94 Speedway

Published 11:11am Friday, June 20, 2014

Outlaws will be coming to the I-94 Speedway tomorrow night, but not the kind that ride horses.

The World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series is returning to the racetrack as part of the “Salute to the King” tour, which honors 20-time World of Outlaws champion Steve Kinser.

I-94 Speedway holds significance for the racers, as it debuted on the World of Outlaws schedule last season. Outlaw David Gravel made his first and only win of 2013 at this location.

The pits for this year’s event open at 2 p.m. on Saturday, the main gates open at 4 p.m., and the race is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $35 for adults, $15 for children, and children age 5 and younger are free.

Project New Hope ride this weekend

The second annual Ride for Project New Hope is scheduled for Saturday, June 21, beginning with registration from 9 to 11:30 a.m.

The ride will leave at noon from Lil Evil Inkorpor8ted, and directions will be provided with registration.

Cost is $25 per bike and $15 per additional rider, and includes a T-shirt, wristband, and meal provided by Quaker Steak and Lube.

The ride is a poker-style run, with no road guards.

Anyone who wishes to make a monetary donation to the charity should make checks payable to Perham Lions Festival Committee, in care of Project New Hope.

Project New Hope is a program of military family retreats sponsored by the Minnesota Lions Foundation, Inc. The effects of combat can affect an entire family and can have an impact on each family member that may be subtle or hidden.

Project New Hope offers information, support and resources for each family member during the retreats. Cost of the camp is free and held at camp locations that are private and scenic.

Visit www.ProjectNewHope.net to sign up for a retreat or for more information.
