A 51-year-old Big Lake man was arrested Saturday after he circled his boat around swimmers in a threatening manner, according to the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office.

The man called authorities at 10:10 a.m. to his Ottertail house on Portage Lake to complain about people swimming 10 to 15 feet from the shore in front of his property. He was reportedly unhappy after authorities advised that they cannot dictate where people go in the lake.

Later, a report came in that the man used his boat to circle a woman wading in the water.

He was arrested for fifth-degree assault, disorderly conduct and careless boat operation.
