Fergus boys golf finishes 5th

JORDAN — After two days at the Ridges of Sand Creek, the Fergus Falls boys golf team left the course with 629 two-day team score and a fifth place finish at the Class AA state golf meet.

Fergus, who started the day in third, went from shooting a 308 in day one to a 323 the second day.

Plymouth’s Providence Academy won the title shooting a 302 on the second day to finish with a 602 overall score. Marshall (612) and The Blake School (614) rounded out the top three.

Individually, the Otters were led by Chris Swenson as his back-to-back 73s saw the junior finish tied for fifth place at the tournament.

Andrew Sederlund (72-72) of Virginia/Mt. Iron-Buhl, Carter Haley (71-73) of Mankato East and Andrew Israelson (71-73) of Staples-Motley all finished with a 144 to share the individual medalist honors.

Fergus’ Keaton Lausch would finish tied for 29th place with a 155 (76-79, while teammate Levi Soydara tied for 52nd place with a 163 (81-82).

The Otters scoring was rounded out by Dyson Thacker (78-88) with a 166, Andrew MacFarlane (84-87) with a 171 and Ryan Smith (85-89) with a 174.
