OTC golf teams complete day one at state meet

BECKER ­­— Advancing both boys and girls golf teams, the Otter Tail Central Bulldogs completed day one of the Class A state golf meet at Pebble Creek Tuesday.

In boys action, the Bulldogs are currently tied for fifth place with a team score of 354. With several teams seeing scores in the mid-80s, OTC was able to sit in the middle of the pack, 20 strokes off of day one leader Dawson-Boyd.

Tyler Ukkelberg’s 84 was the top score for the Bulldogs and nine strokes off leader Nathaniel Kahlbaugh of Mahnomen/Waubun. Kaleb Thalmann was second for the Bulldogs with an 87.

Adam Young (91), Kolby Thalmann (92), Patrick Dilly (95) and Nathan Young (109) rounded out the scoring for the OTC boys.

In the girls’ round, the OTC girls struggled in its first day as it shot a team score of 413, tying for sixth.

BOLD leads the tournament after day one with a 365 score, while Andover’s Legacy Christian Academy (367) is two strokes back and Harmony’s Fillmore Central (369) rounded out the top three.

Christine Piwnica of Southwest Christian (Chaska) and Lauren Laffen of Sleepy Eye currently sit tied on top of the leader board each with 79.

Sophomore Leah Weber led the Bulldogs with a 96, tied for 37th after one day of play. Morgan Klintworth (97), Makenzie Vorderbruggen (106), Paige Weber (114), Jessicca Lhotak (117) and Greta Nyhus (128) rounded out the scoring for the Bulldogs after the first day.

The Class A tournament continued its second day play earlier today.
