Top JAWS awards announced

The weather and other circumstances this year only allowed 90 days for students participating in the Jogging And Walking Students program.

At Adams, the first- and second-grade students completed 52,127 laps around the field for 7,446 miles. The miles completed is the equivalent of the distance from the North Pole to Miami, Fla.

The top boy and girl runners in each grade were:

• First grade girl — Sophie Frederick (65 miles)

• First grade boy — Jack Welde (118.28 miles)

• Second grade boy — Kellen Stenstrom (125.42 miles)

•Second grade girl — Grace Polejewski (77.85 miles)

These students received a free pair of shoes donated by Bare’s Bootery of Aitkin.

With Stenstrom’s 125.42 miles, he broke his previous record of 115.57, set as a first grader.
