A 50-year-old Wadena man was injured in a construction accident Saturday, according to a news release from the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office.

He and another man were doing excavation work at a Wadena property. A 79-year-old man operated a large excavator and the 50-year-old operated a dump truck.

The excavator operator tried to dislodge dirt stuck in the bucket of the excavator when the bucket hooked the front of the dump truck.

He was unaware that the bucket was hooked as he lifted the bucket, and the bucket then lifted the front of the truck about 10 feet off the ground.

The truck came free of the bucket and crashed back to the ground.

The driver of the dump truck exited the vehicle. He sustained non-life threatening back injuries, and Tri County Ambulance took him to the hospital.

Deer Creek Rescue assisted at the scene.
