Koerselman Sr.

Koerselman Sr., Uhden, Sundberg, Knutson, Turner Rev. Lewis Koerselman Sr. Rev. Lewis Koerselman Sr., 90, of Fergus Falls, died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2001 at his home. He was born on May 8, 1911, the son of Ben and Jennie (Vander Maten) Koerselman in Sioux County, Iowa. He was ordained to the Presbyterian ministry on May 8, 1942. On June 27, 1935, he married Elizabeth Clyde in Early, Iowa. She preceded him in death in 1992. He married Evelyn Copeland on November 26, 1994. Reverend Koerselman served churches in Beaver City, Nebraska; Plum Creek, Pennsylvania; Grant and Otter Tail Counties; Tulia and Spearman, Texas; and Americus and Eskridge, Kansas. After retirement, he had interim pastorates in Tulia, Canadian, Childress, Memphis, Pampa, and Amarillo, Texas; and Lawrence and Western Presbyterian Church in Minnesota. Preceding him in death were his parents; three brothers; and one sister. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn; three children, Lewis (Carolyn) Koerselman Jr., of Battle Lake, Betsy (David) McCampbell of Amarillo, Texas, and Walter (Karen) Koerselman of San Francisco, Calif.; step-daughter, Cheri (Faisal) Al-Arfaj of Kuwait; step-son, Sid (Deanna) Copeland of San Antonio, Texas; 18 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three sisters; and one brother. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the charity of your choice. A family directed memorial service will be held 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001, at Western Presbyterian Church, Otter Tail County, with the Rev. Lyle Dykstra, nephew, Wilmington, DE, officiating. Olson Funeral Home of Fergus Falls is in charge of arrangements. Esther Uhden Esther Alvina (Widmer) Uhden, 71, of Donnelly, died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2001 at her home. She was born on Nov. 16, 1930 in Fargo. She grew up and attended school in the Wahpeton/Breckenridge area. Through the years, she worked as a waitress for many different businesses and in 1982 started her own ceramic shop. While waitressing at the Corner Caf\u00E9 in Elbow Lake, she met Bob Uhden. They were married on Jan. 11, 1950. She was a devoted wife of 5 1 years, 11 months and 11 days. She was a, loving mother to their nine children, many grandchildren and also had the pleasure of great-grandehildren. She enjoyed the many hours she spent with her family and friends. She was always willing to give of her time, talent and love, whenever and wherever it was needed. She made us all realize that our time here is just too short and she really lived each day to its fullest. Her hands were always busy. While watching her favorite TV show, "Touched by an Angel," she would be embroidering, crocheting or painting ceramics. She was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Ida Widmer; niece Linda Goldenstein; and two step-sisters Ida and Wilma. She is survived by her husband, Robert (Bob) Uhden; nine children, Michael (Mary) and Theressa, both of Degraff; Lafay (Donnie) Fieclitner of Mooreton, N.D.; Lowell (Pamela) of Barney, N.D.; Debra (Howard) Kill of Donnelly; Robert (special friend, Sheryl) of Lowry; Darrell (special friend, Shirley) of Kensington; Dale (Carol) of Bismarck, N.D.; and Kenneth (Julie) of Alexandria; two sisters, Irene (Clinton) Goldenstein and Lillian (Marvin) Johnson; one step-brother, Alvin Widmer; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandehildren; seven step-grandchildren and nine step-great-grandchildren. Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church Service: 10 a.m. Saturday at the Federated Church, Morris Clergy: Rev. Hilda Parks Burial: A private burial will be held in the spring at Vinger Cemetery, rural Donnelly Funeral Home: Pedersen Funeral Home, Morris Frances Sundberg Frances Lillian Newborg Sundberg, 87 of Phoenix, Ariz., formerly of Fergus Falls, died Monday, Dec. 24, 2001 in Phoenix. She was born on June 4, 1914 in Fergus Falls to George and Inga Newborg. In April 1947, she married Robert Clayton Peterson. She worked for many years in Washington state as a cosmetologist. After Mr. Peterson's death in June of 1968, she moved back to Minnesota and resided at East Lost Lake and wintered in Apache Junction, Ariz. For the past three years, she resided at her home in Phoenix and in the summer would go to Washington state with her family. She loved to crochet and made dozens of beautiful afghans for her family and friends. She will be deeply missed. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; sisters Haldes Knutson, Agnes Houck, and Marvel Olson; and brothers Joseph, George, Lawrence and Rueben Newborg. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Burton) Gumeson; sisters Juenette (Herb) Nelson of Ariz. and Marjorie (Sherlock) Houge of Fergus Falls; brother Virgil (Patricia) Newborg of northern Minnesota; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Burial will be held at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Washington. Edna Knutson Edna Knutson, 87, of Ashby, died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2001, at the Pelican Lake Health Care Center in Ashby. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Trefoldighed Lutheran Church, rural Battle Lake, with the Rev. Robin Nice officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Nilson Funeral Home in Ashby and will resume one hour prior to the service. The Glende-Nilson Funeral Home of Ashby is in charge of arrangements. Scott Turner Scott Turner, 47, of Ashby, died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2001 at the Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria. Funeral arrangements are pending with the Glende-Nilson Funeral Home of Ashby.
