It's that time again. Our spring pancake and sausage feed at the Senior Center is scheduled from 3:30 to 7 p.m. Monday, April 23. Cost of tickets remains the same: $4 in advance and $4.50 at the door for adults, $2 for children ages 5 to 10 and free for the little ones under 5.
There will be great music furnished by Dooley Kielmeyer, Jack Savoy and Evelyn Kugler. So gather up your friends, relatives and neighbors and join us for an enjoyable time. Advance tickets are available from any board member or in the Senior Center office.
Looking at activities for the next two weeks, we have the Blood Washed Band next Tuesday at 11 a.m. Make a noon meal reservation in advance and stay for the ham dinner afterward.
At 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 17, Leigh Lake from Someplace Safe will present an Elder Abuse Seminar. She will discuss what steps to take if you or someone you know is a victim. Leigh will also provide information about the financial, emotional and physical abuse that is perpetrated on the elderly — oftentimes by a family member. There is help for those who are suffering. (The noon meal this day features barbequed chicken.)
Our Adopt-a-Class students, third graders from Lynette Ringquist's class at Adams School, will visit the Senior Center on April 17 and take part in Bingo with the seniors at 1 p.m.
For those of you who like to plan ahead, we have "Ask the Attorney" on April 25. Call 736-6842 to make an appointment. No charge.
Barb Smith is offering a two-part Oil Painting Class on April 24 and 25 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The painting to be completed is on display in the office. Participants must purchase their own canvas and bring paper towels (Viva preferred). Brushes and paints will be furnished. Cost will be determined by picture selection. Register and pay by April 20.
No trip is planned for May. However, on June 21, we will go to the Woodtick Theater in Akeley. More information on this later.
Many thanks to everyone who has been saving SunMart grocery receipts for the Senior Center. We are moving right along, having raised over $92,000. Less than $58,000 to go toward our goal of $150,000. Keep up the good work. The $1,000 bonus we receive will go into our activity fund.
Hope everybody survived the snowstorm. Could it be the last one of the season?

The Daily Journal is happy to host community conversations about news and life in Fergus Falls and the surrounding area. As hosts, we expect guests will show respect for each other. That means we don't threaten or defame each other, and we keep conversations free of personal attacks. Witty is great. Abusive is not. If you think a post violates these standards, don't escalate the situation. Instead, flag the comment to alert us. We'll take action if necessary. It's not hard. This should be a place where people want to read and contribute -- a place for spirited exchanges of opinion. So those who persist with racist, defamatory or abusive postings risk losing the privilege to post at all.Post a comment
