Fergus grad returns to work one-on-one improving skin care
Published Monday, April 16, 2007
Licensed esthetician Wendy Kjono, now working at the Exsalonce Salon and Spa in Fergus Falls, has found her niche.
“I like working one-on-one with people,” she said. “I get to listen to soft music and have candles around me. I can’t believe it’s my job.”
She recently returned from Southern California, where she began her career.
She spent 600 hours in skin care training at the Garden Grove Career Academy of Beauty five years ago.
“After I got licensed, I joined a plastic surgeon’s office in Beverly Hills,” she said. “I did facials, microderm abrasions and chemical peels.”
After a year, she moved on to Envy Day Spa in Orange County, where she performed all of the above services, along with body waxing.
At the Essential Beauty Medical Spa, she added body wraps to her repertoire.
“I like helping people to feel good,” she said. “I want to help them take care of their skin and look good.”
She helps people with fine lines and hyper-pigmentation, and offers full facials with glycolic peels. She has an Ozone light that kills bacteria to help treat acne.
She carries LaRoche-Posay products, an exclusive, hypoallergenic line of skin care products ranging from scrubs to moisturizers.
Exsalonce offers gift certificates from $30 and up, and she plans to offer specials for Mother’s Day and other holidays.
“I like to bring more awareness to women about their skin,” she said. “I’m here to help them take more time out for themselves, which is something everyone needs to do.”
She is available by appointment from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week.
