First of all, lest I forget, there has been a change in the date for the Woodtick Theater trip in June. It is a little later than originally indicated, so plan on Wednesday, June 27, for this trip. All other information as given last week is correct, including the sign-up date of May 18.
While we are on the subject of trips, you will recall we have none scheduled for the month of May but the rest of the summer is as follows: June 27, Woodtick Theater, Akeley; July 19, Jasper's Jubilee Theater; Park Rapids; Aug. 16, Otter Tail Lake Cruise.
To wind up the fall, we will have the Stillwater River Boat and Trolley Tour in September and Chanhassen Theater in October.
On Tuesday, May 8, at 11:30 a.m. Jackie Wenstrom, RN from Lake Region Hospital, will present a seminar, "Spotlight on Shingles." Most of us have heard of shingles but how much do we really know about it? It can be painful and cause serious health complications.
Making informed decisions about your health starts with knowing the facts. Register a day in advance if you plan to stay for the Tuesday noon meal after the seminar.
On May 9, at 10:30 a.m. John Armstrong will offer free hearing aid cleaning. Call 736-6842 for an appointment.
Also on May 9, the Red Hat gals will be attending the salad luncheon at 11:30 a.m. at First United Church of Christ which is located on the corner of Baird and Fir Avenues.
The Refresher Driving Improvement Class will be offered by Community Education at the Public Library from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 3. Register and pay the $18 fee in the Community Ed office (998-0544, Ext. 1600).
A reminder that all of our Senior Center volunteers are invited to attend the Volunteer Recognition at 1 p.m. on Monday, April 30. A special program has been planned to thank these wonderful, dedicated people.
I hope you were able to attend our pancake and sausage feed last Monday. We had an excellent turnout — more than last year. We thank you for coming and we also thank the many volunteers who made it happen.
Special thanks to "Dooley" Kielmeyer, Jack Savoy and Vivian Kugler who provided the great music. We also extend a very special thank you to Wal-Mart from whom we will receive matching funds up to $1,000 for this fund-raiser.

The Daily Journal is happy to host community conversations about news and life in Fergus Falls and the surrounding area. As hosts, we expect guests will show respect for each other. That means we don't threaten or defame each other, and we keep conversations free of personal attacks. Witty is great. Abusive is not. If you think a post violates these standards, don't escalate the situation. Instead, flag the comment to alert us. We'll take action if necessary. It's not hard. This should be a place where people want to read and contribute -- a place for spirited exchanges of opinion. So those who persist with racist, defamatory or abusive postings risk losing the privilege to post at all.Post a comment
