Be tough enough to wear pink

Published Monday, August 13, 2007

The third annual Red Horse Ranch PRCA Rodeo is upon us and I am especially pleased to tell you about a new activity this year that will benefit our area's health care community. In an effort to raise awareness and dollars for breast cancer research and education, the Red Horse Ranch has designated Thursday, Aug. 16, as "Tough Enough to Wear Pink" night. A portion of the proceeds from that evening's Rodeo performance will be donated to the Lake Region Hospital Foundation to aid in the continued development of our cancer research and treatment programs.

An estimated 43,000 women and men will die from breast cancer this year and we salute the Red Horse Ranch Arena for taking steps to help put this important health issue top-of-mind. You can do your part by attending the Rodeo this Thursday evening and wearing pink to signify your support. It is a great way to have fun while contributing back to the community.

Come on out on Thursday evening and prove that you are indeed, tough enough to wear pink.

The Daily Journal is happy to host community conversations about news and life in Fergus Falls and the surrounding area. As hosts, we expect guests will show respect for each other. That means we don't threaten or defame each other, and we keep conversations free of personal attacks. Witty is great. Abusive is not. If you think a post violates these standards, don't escalate the situation. Instead, flag the comment to alert us. We'll take action if necessary. It's not hard. This should be a place where people want to read and contribute -- a place for spirited exchanges of opinion. So those who persist with racist, defamatory or abusive postings risk losing the privilege to post at all.
