Trap shooting, archery planned at expo

The second annual Conservation and Wildlife Expo is planned Aug. 24 through 26, at the Wadena County Fairgrounds in Wadena. More than 50 vendors are scheduled to attend.
Sportsman's Warehouse of Fargo, is one of the major sponsors and will have an entire building of sporting goods on sale for the event.
Hoots Sports, another major sponsor, will have 4-wheelers, boats and many other items to look at, as well as lots of food on the grounds.
The booths will be open on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. It’s German night, come and eat with us, Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Bring a shotgun and enter the State Championship Still Target Turkey Shoot starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday, or the trap shoot to start at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
Bring bow and arrows to the archery competition also to be held on Saturday starting at 10 a.m.
There will be prizes in several different divisions of competition. If you don't shoot or between competitions come listen to the speakers, presentations on Saturday include the Minnesota Zoo with animals at 11 a.m and 1 p.m.; noon Hoot's Sports Pro Staff fisherman, 2 p.m. Wild Turkey Hunting Tactics by Tom Glines and Jerry Jenkins; 3 p.m. Rotational Grazing by Mark Hyak NRCS; 4 p.m. Muskie Fishing Basics by Brian Kaiser of Kaiser Tails Guide Service and at 5 p.m. The dos and don'ts of Native Grass Seeding, with Dave Aldeen; and 6 p.m. Organic Certification and Practices by Tom Bilek.
Also get your antlers scored by Minnesota Official Measurers Saturday only.
Two Minnesota Zoo presentations 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., bird house building from 2 to 6 p.m. sponsored by the Staples Sportsman's Club and Jon and Daryls Hamburg.
On Sunday bring your dogs along, at 11 a.m. Lucille Belch and Don Isaacson will be teaching dog obedience, at noon the dogagility course opens, give it a try, your dog will love it.
From 2 to 3:30 p.m. retriever training and trials will be held with Gordon Schlictning of Rice Creek Hunting Dog Club. Bring your best friend for training and fun.
Our featured event is on Sunday at 1 p.m. in front of the grandstand.
Four-time International Skeet Shoot Champion, John Satterwhite, will perform exhibition shooting. This is sponsored by the NRA and will be a great performance you will not want to miss. The cost is free with your $2 paid admission into the Expo. Everything inside is free except the shooting and archery competitions, which cost $5 for a box of shells or target.
