Wadena fire destroys shed

Published Tuesday, February 6, 2007

Fire destroyed a shed belonging to Joe and Dixie Murray, rural Wadena, Monday noon. Joe Murray told the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Department he parked his Bobcat skid steer in the shed and plugged in its block heater.

“I wasn’t gone more than five minutes when I was on my way home and noticed the Wadena Fire Department behind me,” Murray told the department.

The shed contained a lawnmower, two skid steers, swather and antique seed drill. Murray estimated the damage at $25,000. Cause of the fire is yet undetermined, but it is believed to be electrical, the sheriff’s department said.

The Daily Journal is happy to host community conversations about news and life in Fergus Falls and the surrounding area. As hosts, we expect guests will show respect for each other. That means we don't threaten or defame each other, and we keep conversations free of personal attacks. Witty is great. Abusive is not. If you think a post violates these standards, don't escalate the situation. Instead, flag the comment to alert us. We'll take action if necessary. It's not hard. This should be a place where people want to read and contribute -- a place for spirited exchanges of opinion. So those who persist with racist, defamatory or abusive postings risk losing the privilege to post at all.
