What is this?
Pawlenty let our town down
Published 12:00 p.m., February 9, 2007
Gov. Tim Pawlenty’s decision to cancel a long-planned visit to Fergus Falls in favor of a high-profile political event in Michigan, is a disappointment.
While there would have been little glamour for the governor in riding a snowmobile on cold, thinly covered trails here, the attendant publicity would have been a nice boost for Fergus Falls’ tourism efforts.
Even if conditions did not permit a snowmobile ride, having the governor broadcast his radio show here would have been a boost.
No doubt, however, Pawlenty finds it more expedient to gain national publicity by stumping for presidential candidate Sen. John McCain at the Michigan Republican convention.
The governor knows best how he can fulfill his duties to his constituents. But it is disappointing that he did not fulfill his commitment to Fergus Falls.
