BATTLE LAKE — The Ashby Arrows claimed a big Little Eight Conference victory Friday night as they defeated Battle Lake 64-57.
The Arrows held a slim 35-34 lead at the half.
After Ashby’s Matt Ohren drained a three to tie the game five minutes into the second half, the Battlers were never able to regain the upperhand
“We competed with them very hard throughout the night,” said Battle Lake head coach Dan Peterka. “They had too many weapons down the stretch.”
Burgee Boyum led the team with 15 points. Luke Buchholz chalked up 13 points.
Elliot Risbrudt scored 19 points and had eight assists in the game to lead the Arrows in both categories. Davis Mickelson was the rebounding leader with 13.
“Our defense was much improved and as a team they protected the ball well and waited for good looks to shoot,” said Ashby head coach Tim Christianson.
The Arrows play the last game of a four-game road set Friday with Brandon-Evansville. The Battlers will host Henning Tuesday in a non-conference game.
