Mosher to lead commissioners; Nelson voted VP

In their first meeting of the new term, the Otter Tail County Board voted to make Dennis Mosher chairman of the board and give Syd Nelson the vice chairman spot.
The vote means Mosher moves up one spot, and commissioner Roger Froemming goes back to rank-and-file, though there aren’t any hard feelings.
“Every year, we change,” District 5 Commissioner Bob Block said, noting he’s had both top spots in previous years. “One year’s about enough of it.”
The switch officially happened during Tuesday’s county board meeting.

n Printing and publication bids were awarded to area publishing companies Tuesday. The Daily Journal won the right to print legal notices, commissioners’ minutes and other county publications. The Pelican Rapids Press and The New York Mills Herald will share the county’s annual financial statements, and the Parkers Prairie Independent put in the winning bid for the delinquent tax list.
Kathy Domholt of the OTC Coordinator’s office said those companies winning bids will print and publish documents for the entire year of 2007.
n Contractors interested in the Ottertail substation project are asked to pick up a pre-qualification packet from the architect, Physical Plant Manager Rick Sytsma said. From those responses, the county will send out bid documents, and bidding will open Feb. 7.
“We know the need is there,” Sytsma said, noting a needs assessment was given previously by the county sheriff.
The total project, if approved by the county, is estimated at roughly $5 million.
