Do you remember the fun we had at the concerts in Roosevelt Park last summer? This year there will be a series of eight Thursday night concerts plus an art activity for the entire family and, of course, food vendors too.
The first concert starts at 5 p.m. on June 21, with music by the Scandinavian Fiddle and Folk Group and the Underwood Lions will be serving their fabulous pork chops.
On the 28th, the Lions will again be serving their pork chops to the tunes of Caribbean music by Island Time. Proceeds from the food sales of both of these events go to support the Senior Citizens Program Activity Fund.
So come, bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy a pleasant evening of music and food in the park.
You may wish to come early to the noon meal at the Senior Center on Thursday, June 7, as "Dooley" Kielmeyer and Jack Savoy will be providing musical entertainment at 11:15 a.m.
June 11 will be a day of choices:
• The Red Hat ladies are having lunch at 11:30 a.m. at the Jazzy Fox Bistro.
• Come 1 p.m., we look back to "Those Were The Days" for an afternoon of reminiscing. Share your memories, bring your photo albums and your scrapbooks or a special something to display while telling your story. Please let the office know if you plan to participate.
Two sessions of the Driver Improvement Refresher class will be offered:
• 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Fergus Falls Public Library
• 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Area Learning Center
Cost is $18, payable with registration at the Community Education office.
Hearing aids can be a godsend but they do require some maintenance.
At 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 13, John Armstong will be at the Center to provide free wax check and hearing aid cleaning. Call 736-6842 for an appointment.
Sometimes circumstances are such that one becomes overwhelmed with the struggle to pay a debt.
What are the rights and responsibilities with reference to debt collection?
Sherry Bruckner, attorney with Legal Services of Northwest Minnesota, will present a seminar, "Seniors and Debt Collection," at 11:30 a.m. on June 19 at the Senior Center. Don't miss this informational meeting.
Finally, a few reminders:
• Stroke Awareness Seminar - June 5, 11:30 - Register a day in advance.
• Woodtick Theater — June 27 — Check for available seats.
• Jasper's Jubilee Theater — July 19 — Register by June 22.

The Daily Journal is happy to host community conversations about news and life in Fergus Falls and the surrounding area. As hosts, we expect guests will show respect for each other. That means we don't threaten or defame each other, and we keep conversations free of personal attacks. Witty is great. Abusive is not. If you think a post violates these standards, don't escalate the situation. Instead, flag the comment to alert us. We'll take action if necessary. It's not hard. This should be a place where people want to read and contribute -- a place for spirited exchanges of opinion. So those who persist with racist, defamatory or abusive postings risk losing the privilege to post at all.Post a comment
