Board reviews drawings for Cleveland remodeling

Updated blueprints of conceptual floor plans for Cleveland Elementary and the Middle School were on display at Monday’s school board meeting. District officials have been working with architecture and engineering firm Armstrong, Torseth, Skold, and Rydeen, Inc., (ATS&R) of Minneapolis.
“We’re getting a good understanding of how the building and space are being utilized now and more details on the needs,” Mark Hayes ATS&R project manager said.
The firm met with principals and staff to discuss both projects as well as an executive committee consisting of school board members, administrative staff and Superintendent Jerry Ness.
“The conceptual floor plan options give us a better understanding of square footages,” Hayes said.
Plans are for students to be in the remodeled Cleveland Elementary during the fall of 2008.
Doing so will allow for more flexibility by moving the fifth graders currently housed at the middle school out to Cleveland.
ATS&R has completed projects in Marshall, Robbinsdale and North Branch, as well as with schools in Wisconsin, Illinois and Pennsylvania.
