PRCA rodeo Aug. 16-18 at Red Horse Ranch Arena

Published Thursday, June 28, 2007

The best rodeo action allowed by law is coming to Fergus Falls, with the third annual Red Horse Ranch PRCA Pro Rodeo 7:30 p.m. nightly, August 16 through 18, brought to you in part by Nelson Dodge.

Tucked into the wooded hills just six miles north of Fergus Falls, the Red Horse Ranch Arena provides the perfect rodeo setting and has a capacity to comfortably entertain thousands of fans.

This year's rodeo will be bigger, better and tougher than ever before with professional riders coming from all over the country. Rodeo is one of the fastest growing spectator sports with a strong sense of tradition and family values. The excitement and energy of this event will provide rodeo fans, new and old, the opportunity to see the sport's very best athletes attempt to rope, ride and wrestle some of rodeo's rankest livestock.

The prize money is tremendous, the Red Horse Ranch Arena facilities are among the finest in the country and the hospitality is second to none.

Three big evenings of non-stop, action packed competition will begin at 7:30 p.m. nightly. Life Church of Fergus Falls is a kick-off sponsor of the rodeo on Thursday evening, which is also designated “Tough Enough To Wear Pink Night.”

A portion of the proceeds from this performance will be donated back to support breast cancer research and education.

Each performance will include bareback riding, steer wrestling, calf roping, saddle bronc riding, team roping, barrel racing, rodeo clowns and America's favorite bull riding. Back by popular demand, the wild cow ride will be a part of Friday's show and the kid's mutton bustin' competition will highlight Saturday.

Professional rodeo announcer Kelly Kenney will also be back to help give the crowd their money's worth. Fans of all ages are sure to enjoy this years Rodeo action.

The Daily Journal is happy to host community conversations about news and life in Fergus Falls and the surrounding area. As hosts, we expect guests will show respect for each other. That means we don't threaten or defame each other, and we keep conversations free of personal attacks. Witty is great. Abusive is not. If you think a post violates these standards, don't escalate the situation. Instead, flag the comment to alert us. We'll take action if necessary. It's not hard. This should be a place where people want to read and contribute -- a place for spirited exchanges of opinion. So those who persist with racist, defamatory or abusive postings risk losing the privilege to post at all.
