Nitz promoted to colonel in air force

Barbara R. Nitz was promoted to the rank of colonel in the U.S. Air Force Reserve.

Nitz, an individual mobilization augmentee to the chief of aeromedical operations, is assigned to Scott Air Force Base, Belleville, Ill. The colonel has 17 years of military service.

She is the daughter of John A. Kelly of S. Jefferson St., Petersburg, Va., and the late Doris Plaisance Kelly formerly of New Orleans, La.

Her husband, Air Force Lt. Col. Trevor W. Nitz, is the son of William L. and Barbara H. Nitz of First Ave. N.W., Rothsay, Minn.

Colonel Nitz graduated in 1976 from Petersburg High School, and received an associate degree in 1984 from Richard Bland College, Petersburg. She earned a master's degree in 1989 from the University of Virginia at Charlottesville.
