No need to search long for reason to celebrate

The top of the morning to you. No, I'm not really Irish but on March 17, I always pretend to have a wee bit of Irish blood so I can celebrate St. Pat's Day.
Speaking of celebrations, I'm looking forward to next Tuesday, the 20th, also (maybe you are too) because that is officially the first day of spring.
It is also the day we exchange visits with our Adopt-a-Class.
But this time our third-graders won't be coming to the Senior Center as we're sending our senior, Marvin Niesche, to Adams School where he will share his woodworking creations with the students.
We also have a special presentation at 11:15 a.m. on that date at the Center.
Rich Preussler from MeritCare in Fargo will provide information on a Living Will Workshop which is a management program for people with any type of long-term or chronic health condition.
This six-week program will be coming to Fergus Falls in April or May.
How often do you have an opportunity to attend, live and in person, a performance of a national entertainer, composer and musician?
On Thursday, March 22, Charlie Maguire, who performed for 10 years on Garrison Keillor's "Prairie Home Companion" radio show, will be at the Senior Center at 11:15 a.m.
Charlie has been described as more a "folksinger" than many of his illustrious predecessors like Joan Baez, Pete Seeger, Arlo Guthrie and others, and has more than 800 songs and seven albums to his credit. Don't miss this chance to attend his performance.
If you wish to stay for the pork roast noon meal afterward, please make an advance reservation.
Tax assistance is still being offered at the Senior Center by appointment (736-6842) through the Tax Counseling for the Elderly program.
Finally, a reminder is in order to attend the Annual Senior Citizens Spelling Bee next Monday at 1 p.m.
Cheer on your favorite candidate.

The Daily Journal is happy to host community conversations about news and life in Fergus Falls and the surrounding area. As hosts, we expect guests will show respect for each other. That means we don't threaten or defame each other, and we keep conversations free of personal attacks. Witty is great. Abusive is not. If you think a post violates these standards, don't escalate the situation. Instead, flag the comment to alert us. We'll take action if necessary. It's not hard. This should be a place where people want to read and contribute -- a place for spirited exchanges of opinion. So those who persist with racist, defamatory or abusive postings risk losing the privilege to post at all.Post a comment
