Chinese response to RTC plan encouraging

Positive response on the part of Chinese officials is being reported regarding the Minnesota Institute for Cross Cultural Studies (MICCS).
“There is great interest in collaboration, details will be worked on over next several months,” said Economic Improvement Commission Director Harold Stanislawski. Stanislawski is part of a 17-person delegation that left last Wednesday on a 10-day trip to China to promote the project.
“We are now in Bejing and have meet with five universities so far,” Stanislawski said.
“We have had favorable responses. Our team will now be meeting with our final university.”
A plan for redeveloping the Kirkbride into the MICCS was presented to the city by Institute Acquisition Partners, LLC, (IAP), last August.
After buying the Kirkbride, IAP would lease it to MICCS. MICCS’s focus will be language immersion and business studies for Chinese and American students interested in international business and trade.
The purpose of the trip is to advance the project to the next level, build a relationship and invite the Chinese delegation to visit Fergus Falls for a look at the RTC.
Local members of the team, in addition to Stanislawski, include Fergus Falls businessman Richard Anderson and Dist. 10 Sen. Dan Skogen (DFL-Hewitt). Dist. 10A Rep. Bud Nornes (R-Fergus Falls) was invited on the trip, but declined due to prior commitments.

The Daily Journal is happy to host community conversations about news and life in Fergus Falls and the surrounding area. As hosts, we expect guests will show respect for each other. That means we don't threaten or defame each other, and we keep conversations free of personal attacks. Witty is great. Abusive is not. If you think a post violates these standards, don't escalate the situation. Instead, flag the comment to alert us. We'll take action if necessary. It's not hard. This should be a place where people want to read and contribute -- a place for spirited exchanges of opinion. So those who persist with racist, defamatory or abusive postings risk losing the privilege to post at all.Posted by Granny (anonymous) on November 14, 2007 at 12:38 p.m. (Suggest removal)
