October is National Disability Awareness Month

Published 12:44 p.m., October 2, 2007

What is a Disability? Who has Disabilities? Where do people with Disabilities work? Many questions come to mind when we discuss persons with disabilities.

The statistics show that between 15 and 20 percent of US citizens have some disability and more than 7 million use devices to compensate. The devices maybe canes, walkers, back braces, hearing aides and communication boards to name a few.

Almost everyone will develop physical or other disabilities at some point in their life.

Productive Alternatives is a non-profit agency dedicated to providing diverse human service programming, offering viable workforce opportunities for businesses and manufacturing and marketing innovative products.
