Musical to benefit the Bethel kitchen

Published Friday, October 26, 2007

Brad Pribbenow, Church of the Lutheran Brethren seminary student and Minister of Worship and Music at Bethel Lutheran Church, Fergus Falls, loves to share the message of God's love through music that draws from the new and the old. He will share this message at 6:30 p.m. Sunday when he performs at Bethel Lutheran Church.

People who attend will have the opportunity to see and hear a musician who has recorded four CDs and who strongly believes there’s a renewed longing for what Pribbenow describes as “the richness and depth of the arts in the church.”

His performance Sunday evening is being held to help raise funds — through personal offerings — for improvements to the kitchen at Bethel Lutheran Church, in memory of the late Elida Watson. She spent many hours faithfully serving in Bethel’s kitchen.

Pribbenow, who plays piano and guitar, has many years of experience teaching on worship for church congregations and college students alike.

“My recordings include music — some original and some new arrangements — that I think appeal to many generations,” he said.

Pribbenow, 36, is a native of Eau Claire, Wis., and is the founder and leading member of the BP Band. As noted on his website, early learning on the guitar gave way to high school and college training, as well as a bachelor's degree in percussion and piano from the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire.

He’s had an active and fruitful ministry of worship and music over the years and has performed throughout the United States. Pribbenow has offered worship training to college and church worship teams of all denominations.

His four CDs include Hymns, Volume 1, His Love Endures Forever, Salvation and Always Like New.

"What I hope to do is to provide an opportunity and an atmosphere for people to be met by God,” Pribbenow said. “Hearing that someone has heard God speak to them through my music is one of the greatest joys I know."

Prior to coming to Fergus Falls, he served in college campus ministry at Green Bay, Wis., and was worship director at a Church of the Lutheran Brethren church — Bethesda Lutheran — in Eau Claire. He’s in his third year of seminary at Church of the Lutheran Brethren, Fergus Falls.

Pribbenow and his wife, Melissa, have four children.

“Living in Fergus Falls these past three years has been wonderful for me and my family,” he said. “It will be a real joy to share my music Sunday evening.”
