It’s an exciting time on Channing Avenue here at The Daily Journal offices and I’m here to share with you why.
First of all, we’re welcoming a new reporter to our staff.
Trisha Marczak joins The Daily Journal news team, replacing Susan Larson, who left the paper on March 26.
Trisha, who hails from Duluth, joined our team on Wednesday.
A graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Superior, Trisha holds a journalism degree and was last employed as a reporter with Wisconsin Public Radio in Superior.
New faces on the beat:
With Trisha on board, we are going to shuffle our beat coverage a bit.
Trisha will cover our education beat and will keep an eye on the many issues facing the Fergus Falls School Board. Her beat will include covering the happenings at the Fergus Falls schools as well as schools in the surrounding communities.
Lauren Radomski, who covered schools, is moving over to the city government beat. There she will cover the Fergus Falls City Council and the various city committees. Lauren is also assuming the crime beat, which includes covering news coming out of area police departments, the sheriff’s department, and Otter Tail County courts.
Reporter Tom Hintgen is covering county government and happenings in the communities outside of Fergus Falls.
Ask an expert:
We’re going to launch a new regular feature here at The Daily Journal, too. Called “Ask an expert,” we’re giving our readers the opportunity to ask a question that has piqued their curiosity and the Journal staff will seek out the answer using our bank of sources and connections.
The questions can be about government, street repairs, county ditches, food, gardening — you name it. We’re limited only by your imagination! If you seek an answer to something that’s been on your mind, shoot your question over to me by email at jeff.hage@fergusfallsjournal.com. We’ll get right on it for you!
More news:
In an attempt to bring our readers more state and national news I am organizing news into more and more briefs packages that should be both easy to locate on our news pages and easy to read. You’ll see I’m organizing local news briefs in the same format. It’s my goal that this will bring you not only more news about the local community, but the state and nation, too.
Online:
Through the Journal Web site were are committed more than ever to bringing you news as it happens. Our newsroom staff has been updating the Web after breaking news and is now doing so immediately after our city council, county board, and school board meetings, as well.
With the start of the spring sports season you will see scores updated throughout the night of the games — no more waiting for 10:25 p.m. on Fargo television stations to learn if your favorite team won the game.
We hope these changes enhance your experience with The Daily Journal. I welcome your ideas on how we can further be a service to our readers, too. I’m just a click away at jeff.hage@fergusfallsjournal.com. I’ll be there waiting to hear from you!
