Arrows suffer 5-0 loss to Wheaton

ASHBY — The Ashby Arrows were held scoreless Thursday in a 5-0 season opener against Jay Nelson and the Wheaton Warriors.
Nelson went the distance giving up only two hits.
Collin Ruter of Ashby got a double and Tyson Langlie singled for the Arrows.
Kurtis Mickelson started on the mound for the Arrows giving up two hits, two earned runs, two walks, and two hit-by-pitches.
“Mickelson pitched very well and kept us in the game,” said Ashby head coach Ryan Bartosiewski. “We struggled at the plate, but we didn’t play too bad.”
The Arrows will host Parkers Prairie Friday at 5 p.m.

BATTLE LAKE — The Pirates scored six times in the first two innings en route to a Park Region Conference win over Otter Tail Central.
J.J. Lundquist collected a pair of hits for the Bulldogs. Luke Lachowitzer and Jeremy Umlauf had solo hits. The Bulldogs came up with just four hits in the game.
Jeff Hamann suffered the mound loss.

Ortonville 11, Hillcrest 6
ORTONVILLE — The Trojans jumped Hillcrest starter Nick Tungseth early and scored 10 of their 11 runs in the first four innings.
Tungseth gave way to Tim Erickson after 1 2/3 innings of work. Erickson surrendered only one earned run with some fine middle relief work.
Bryant Zahrbock and Evan Sammon led the Trojans at the plate with five hits and four runs between them.
Tungseth collected two hits for the Comets, who scored six times in the final three innings.
The Comets are slated to host Chokio-Alberta Friday at Legion Field. Game time is set for 5 p.m.

Pelican Rapids 5, Hawley 2
HAWLEY — The Vikings settled down after committing three errors in the opening frame to post their first victory of the spring.
“We gave up three errors in the first inning but after that we toughened up and played good ball after that,” said Pelican Rapids head coach Steve Schwantz.
Brian Guler sparked a three-run uprising in the third with an RBI-double. Matthew Skow-Anderson and Sam Krueger both had two hits in the win. Cody Schenck had two hits in the loss.
Tydan Storrusten posted the win with relief help from Eric Shulstad and Jan-Erik Lindberg.
The Vikings, who are now 1-1 on the season, will face Pequot Lakes at 10 p.m. Saturday in the Metrodome in Minneapolis.
