You need a gas mask to walk around lake
Published Saturday, April 19, 2008
I have two things to say: First, why is the TV Guide in Thursday’s paper so messed up? This week, (last) week, the Thursday night scheduled wasn’t in and two weeks ago it was the same thing.
Second, in reply to the person who wrote the letter about the geese: You can’t walk around Lake Alice — you need ice skates and a gas mask. They have ruined that area for people who want to walk.
Where I live, they are in our yards all the time. My wife likes to walk in the yard, but can’t until I clean it up. If you wash your car, you can’t leave it outside or the windows will be messed up.
It would be fine if we were back to 20 to 30 geese, not 3,000. We should put a month-long season with no limit on the geese.
I will gladly bring bags of goose droppings to the man that wrote the letter. If he likes them that much, maybe he would appreciate the bags.

The Daily Journal is happy to host community conversations about news and life in Fergus Falls and the surrounding area. As hosts, we expect guests will show respect for each other. That means we don't threaten or defame each other, and we keep conversations free of personal attacks. Witty is great. Abusive is not. If you think a post violates these standards, don't escalate the situation. Instead, flag the comment to alert us. We'll take action if necessary. It's not hard. This should be a place where people want to read and contribute -- a place for spirited exchanges of opinion. So those who persist with racist, defamatory or abusive postings risk losing the privilege to post at all.Posted by Mel (anonymous) on April 19, 2008 at 12:39 p.m. (Suggest removal)
The best thing to do with all the extra geese is eat them.
Leave enough to look at.

Hey mel, do you mean bones on your plate or real geese on the lake?

Hi Chip, I mean real geese on the lake. ;)
But the bones look good too, I suppose.

Liberal limits sound good to me, getting permission to hunt on the land where they are going to feed might not be so easy.

Easy Fix
Let's have ten minute shoots by lottery on Lake Alice, Grotto, and the levee. BTW, steel shot does not carry very far.

The geese add beauty to the lake and levee. If you can't clean off your shoes after your walk, that's too bad. And the smell can't all be blamed on the geese. Lake Alice has needed cleaning for a longgggggggggggg time. But remember, can the City afford to do it?
