Fergus nine falls in home opener

Two squeeze bunts in the top of the seventh carried Sauk Rapids past Fergus Falls 3-0 Tuesday at Legion Field.

Patrick Piepkorn squeezed in the first run and Drew Gaffke squeezed in a pair.

Chris Hankonson fired a five-hitter for Sauk Rapids. Hankonson fanned only two batters but he did not allow a walk.

Fergus Falls’ Kyle Shaikoski did not allow a walk while fanning five.

Aaron Link had a pair of hits for the Otters, who put two men aboard in the first but could not bring them home.

The Otter JV team lost 12-7.

The Otters, now 0-2, travel to Willmar Thursday.
