Otters check Storm

SAUK RAPIDS — Brittany Gagner led a 10 hit attack as the Fergus Falls Otters defeated the Sauk Rapids Storm on Tuesday in a Central Lakes Confer-ence matchup. Kara Fisher also had a nice day at the dish going 3-for-4 with two doubles and three runs scored. Nikki Clouse picked up two hits while driving in two runs for the Otters.
“The kids came out and played a great game. They had confidence and a lot of energy,” said Fergus head coach Renee Erickson.
Aly Erickson pitched for the Otters getting the win. Getting hung with the loss for was Tiffany Walentlny. The Otter JV team won 9-5 with Mariah Monke getting the win.
The Otters will host Willmar Thursday at 5 p.m.

Ashby 4, Hillcrest 2
ASHBY — Hillcrest’s five-game winning streak was snapped as Ashby’s Danielle Holcomb picked up her fourth win of the season. Holcomb had a superb night on the mound striking out eight batters and allowing only two hits.
Leading the offensive charge for the Arrows was Holcomb going 2-for-3 with three RBIs.
The Arrows improved to 4-0 on the season.
“We are very happy to pick up a victory against a great Hillcrest team and a great pitcher in Sam Hanson,” said Ashby head coach Joey Andreasen.
Sam Hanson suffered her first loss of the season. Hanson allowed only four hits while striking out nine.
Hillcrest’s two hits were picked up by Sophia Undseth and Tawneke Cloud. Hillcrest is now 5-1.

Otter Tail Central 10, Bertha-Hewitt 1
BATTLE LAKE — The Bulldogs still stand undefeated as they took down Bertha-Hewitt in a game in which OTC out-hit the Bears 11-1.
Going 3-for-3 with an RBI for the Bulldogs was Kelsey Koep.
Carley Nelson and Toni Hagen shared pitching duties allowing only onee run on one hit. Nelson and Hagen also helped out in the hitting attack with two hits and one RBI apiece.
Otter Tail Central’s record now stands at 7-0.
The Bulldogs will host a doubleheader with Sebeka Thursday.

HERMAN — The West Central Lady Knights got their bats rolling early by scoring five runs in the first inning on Monday in a makeup game against Chokio-Alberta/ Herman-Norcross.
Taylor Brekke went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI while Paige Sierakowski picked up 3 RBI’s going 1 -for- 4.
The Lady Spartans came back strong scoring two runs in the first and third innings making the game 5-4. After a scoreless fourth, both teams scored a run in the fifth to make it a 7-5 contest. A two-run home run in the sixth by C-A-H-N tied the game at seven. The Lady Spartans scored a run in the bottom of the seventh to take home the win.
