Rams grab pair from Spartans

Published Wednesday, April 23, 2008

The Minnesota State CTC Spartans hurt themselves with nine errors in two games Tuesday as they fell to Anoka-Ramsey 11-5 and 8-4.

Coming off a 3-1 performance in two doubleheaders last weekend, the twin setbacks were a serious blow to Kent Bothwell’s players.

“It’ was pretty tough,” said Bothwell. “We just didn’t play very well. Defensively we made some mistakes.”

MSCTC’s Cody Curry singled, doubled and tripled in the opener. Bryan Rocheleau also tripled. Both men drove in a run.

Tim Novak doubled, tripled and drove in one run for Anoka-Ramsey.

Curry singled and drove in two runs in the second game.

Joe Duevel fired a three-hitter for the Rams. Matt Schornack was hung with the loss.

The Spartans are now 6-6 heading into Wednesday’s road doubleheader at St. Cloud Tech.
