Otters bomb Cardinals

The Otters used a 16-hit attack to down Willmar 13-6 Thursday in a Central Lakes Conference game at DeLagoon Park.

Erika Magnusson hit a three-run homer, went 4-for-5 at the plate and drove in five RBIs. Cristina Masten went 4-for-4, drove in four runs and scored three. Tiffany Werre also went 4-for-4 and drove in two runs. The Otters came up with six doubles.

“We did a nice job of coming up with clutch hits with baserunners on,” said Fergus Falls head coach Renee Erickson.

Willmar’s Chelsey Wierschem went 3-for-4 and scored twice.

Aimee Magnusson notched the win as the Fergus JV team won 6-5.

The Otters are now 4-2 heading into a Friday game at Brainerd.

Otter Tail Central 13-7, Sebeka 7-0

BATTLE LAKE— Otter Tail Central took both games in a double header against Sebeka.

Laura Trosdahl had a great night at the plate in Game 1 going 3-for-4 with three runs scored and three RBIs. Carley Nelson, Lindsay Nelson, and Toni Hagen also had good nights collecting two hits apiece as the Bulldogs.

In game two, Carmen Malmstom pitched an outstanding game allowing only one hit and punching out five batters. Taylor Lundquist was 1-for-1 with an RBI for OTC.

“The girls did a great job of playing in very cold weather. It takes a lot of mental toughness to get through games like today,” said OTC head coach Eric Olson.

The Bulldogs are now 9-0. Their next game will be Friday in Menahga.

BRANDON— The Arrows were out-hit 14-5 as they suffered their first loss of the season.

Jenna Meissner picked up the pitching win for the Chargers.

Tonia Fitzsimmons, Kelly Falk, Josie Kent, Danielle Holcomb and Hayley Barry collected hits for Ashby.

“The Chargers were impressive at the plate and there wasn’t much we could do about it,” said Ashby head coach Joey Andreasen.
