Otters claim Apollo Invite

Published Tuesday, April 29, 2008

ST. CLOUD — Lucas Gervais shot a third-place round of 75 as the Fergus Falls Otters won the 15-team St. Cloud Apollo Invitational with a 313.

“Lucas played a wonderful round of golf,” said Fergus Falls head coach Ben Jurgens. “He is played with a ton of confidence and he is attacking the golf course.”

Trevor Gervais was three strokes behind Lucas. Mike Tuel shot a 79. Shooting in the 80s were Allen Sellner (81), Derek Smith (82) and Nick Risbrudt (84).

“This was the closest we have been to having five scores in the 70s in a long time,” said Jurgens. “We just want to continue to improve our ball striking and short game.”

Brainerd’s Tyler Monda took medalist honors with a 74.

The Daily Journal is happy to host community conversations about news and life in Fergus Falls and the surrounding area. As hosts, we expect guests will show respect for each other. That means we don't threaten or defame each other, and we keep conversations free of personal attacks. Witty is great. Abusive is not. If you think a post violates these standards, don't escalate the situation. Instead, flag the comment to alert us. We'll take action if necessary. It's not hard. This should be a place where people want to read and contribute -- a place for spirited exchanges of opinion. So those who persist with racist, defamatory or abusive postings risk losing the privilege to post at all.
